Otomatik rotasyon, bir helikopterin veya benzer bir uçağın ana rotor sisteminin, rotoru süren motor gücünden ziyade, bir otojiro gibi rotorun içinden yukarı doğru hareket eden hava hareketi vasıtasıyla döndüğü bir uçuş halidir. Otorotasyon terimi, 1915-1920 yılları arasında erken helikopter gelişimi dönemine denk gelmekte ve motorsuz dönen rotorları belirtmektedir. Normal güçlü uçuşta, hava ana rotor sistemine yukarıdan çekilir ve aşağıya doğru dışarı atılır, ancak otomatik rotasyon sırasında hava, helikopter inerken rotor sistemine aşağıdan yukarıya doğru hareket eder.
