Beatrix bir Latin ismidir. Viatrix, "voyager, traveller" anlamına gelen geç Latin adı Viator'un kadınsı formundan türetilmiştir. Yazım, "kutsanmış" anlamı taşıyan Latince beatus ile ilişkilendirilerek değiştirilmiş olsa da, aynı zamanda erken Hıristiyanlar arasında da yaygın bir isim oldu.
