Bronz Çağı
Bronz Çağı, bronz, proto-yazı ve kent medeniyetinin diğer erken özelliklerinin kullanılmasıyla karakterize edilen bir zaman dilimidir. Bronz Çağ, Hıristiyan Jürgensen Thomsen tarafından çağdaş toplumların sınıflandırılması ve incelenmesi için önerilen, üç yaşlı Taş-Bronz-Demir sisteminin ikinci ana dönemidir. Eski bir medeniyet, bronz çağında kendi bronzlaşması ve kalay alaşımlaması ile veya başka yerlerde bronz ticaretiyle tanımlanmaktadır. Bakır-kalay cevheri, M.Ö. üçüncü binyılda bronz ticareti başlamadan önce batı Asya'da kalay bronzlarının bulunmaması nedeniyle geriye doğru nadirdir. Dünya genelinde Bronz Çağı genellikle Neolitik Çağ'yı takip etmiştir, ancak dünyanın bazı bölgelerinde Bakır Çağı Neolitik Çağ'dan Tunç Çağı'na geçişi sağlamıştır. Demir Çağı genellikle Bronz Çağı'nı izlese de, bazı bölgelerde Demir Çağı, bağımsız olarak gelişen Sahra Altı Afrika haricinde, doğrudan Neolitik Çağ'a doğru bölgenin dışından girmişti. Bronz Çağı kültürleri ilk yazının gelişiminde farklılık gösteriyordu.
