Yaralar sonucu normal deri yerini alan fibröz doku alanlarıdır. Bir skar, cildin ve vücudun diğer dokularındaki biyolojik yara onarımı sürecinden kaynaklanır. Böylece, skar, iyileşme sürecinin doğal bir parçasıdır. Çok küçük lezyonlar dışında, her yarada bir dereceye kadar yara izi görülür.
