CITES
CITES, nesli tükenmekte olan bitki ve hayvanları korumak için çok taraflı bir antlaşma. 1963 yılında Uluslararası Doğa Koruma Birliği üyelerinin bir toplantısında kabul edilen bir kararla taslak haline getirildi. Sözleşme 1973 yılında imzaya açıldı ve CITES 1 Temmuz 1975'te yürürlüğe girdi. Amaç, vahşi hayvanların ve bitkilerin uluslararası ticaretinin, vahşi türlerin hayatta kalmasını tehdit etmemesi ve değişime uyum sağlamasıdır 35.000'den fazla hayvan ve bitki türlerine koruma derecesi. Gümrük Tarifeleri ve Ticaret Genel Anlaşmasının ihlal edilmediğinden emin olmak için taslak hazırlama sürecinde GATT Sekretaryasına danışılmıştır.
