Cladistics
Kladistik, organizmaların, en son ortak atadan gelen ve daha uzak atalarda bulunmayan, bir veya daha fazla paylaşılan benzersiz özelliklere sahip olup olmamasına göre gruplandırılmış oldukları biyolojik sınıflandırmaya bir yaklaşımdır. Bu nedenle, aynı grubun üyelerinin ortak bir tarihi paylaştığı düşünülmekte ve daha yakından ilişkili olduğu düşünülmektedir. Kladistik analizde kullanılan özgün yöntemler ve türetilmiş taksonomi okulu, filogenetik sistematiği olarak anılan Alman entomologu Willi Hennig'in çalışmalarından kaynaklanmıştır; "cladistics" ve "clade" terimlerinin kullanılması diğer araştırmacılar tarafından yaygınlaştırılmıştır.
