Bir kodeks, elle yazılmış içeriğe sahip, genellikle bir kenar sabitlenerek ve sayfalardan daha kalın kaplarla, ancak bazen sürekli ve katlanmış konstantin ile kağıt, vellum, papirüs veya benzeri bir dizi kağıttan oluşan bir kitaptır -style.
