Colchicine, gut tedavisinde kullanılan bir ilaçtır. Toksik doğal bir üründür ve ikincil metabolittir ve orijinal olarak Colchicum cinsinden bitkilerden çıkarılır. Başlangıçta romatizmal şikayetleri, özellikle de gut tedavisinde kullanılmıştır ve toksisitesi ile ilgili dozlama sorunlarına rağmen bugün hala bu amaçlar için kullanım bulmaktadır. Ayrıca, katartik ve emetik etkileri için reçete edildi. Gut'a ek olarak, kolşisin ailesel Akdeniz humması, perikardit ve Behçet hastalığını tedavi etmek için kullanılır.
