Uygunluk tutumları, inançları ve davranışları grup normlarına uydurma hareketi. Normlar, bir grup birey tarafından paylaşılan, başkalarıyla etkileşimlerini yönlendiren açık ve anlaşılmaz kurallardır. Uyum eğilimi küçük gruplarda ve / veya toplulukta meydana gelir ve bilinçaltı hassas etkilerden veya doğrudan ve açık sosyal baskıdan kaynaklanabilir. Uyum, başkaları varlığında veya bir kişi yalnız olduğunda ortaya çıkabilir. Örneğin, insanlar yemek yahut televizyon izlerken, yalnızken bile sosyal normları takip etme eğilimindedirler. İnsanlar çoğunlukla benzeri bir yaş, kültür, din veya eğitim durumu olan bir grup içinde güvenlik arzusundan geçer.
