Alternatif olarak kontrol kolonu olarak bilinen bir boyunduruk, bazı sabit kanatlı havaaracı uçlarının pilotajında kullanılan bir cihazdır. Pilot, uçağın tutumunu kontrol etmek için boyunduruğu kullanır, genellikle hem açıda hem de makarada. Kontrol tekerleğini döndürmek, sedye ve rulo eksenini kontrol eder. Genellikle pervaneye tahrik ile sınırlı kük ve orta boy uçak, boyunduruğun doğrudan kontrol yüzeylerine kablo ve çubuklarla bağlandığı mekanik bir sistemi içermektedir. İnsan gücünün tek başına, daha büyük ve daha güçlü uçaklar için yeterli olmadığı için, boyunduruğu hareketleri hidrolik valfleri ve tahrikleri kontrol eden hidrolik sistemler kullanılır. Daha çağdaş uçaklarda, girişler önce sinek-by-wire sisteme gönderilebilir, bu sistem daha sonra kontrol yüzeylerine bağlı aktüatöre karşılık gelen bir sinyal gönderir.
