Kriyobiyoloji, düşük sıcaklıkların canlıların dünyadaki kriyosferindeki veya bilimdeki etkilerini araştıran biyolojinin bir dalıdır. Kriyobiyoloji kelimesi, Yunanca kelimeler cryo = cold, bios = life ve logos = science'den türetilmiştir. Pratikte, kriyobiyoloji biyolojik materyallerin veya sistemlerin normalin altındaki sıcaklıklarda incelenmesidir. İncelenen materyaller veya sistemler proteinler, hücreler, dokular, organlar veya tüm organizmaları içerebilir. Sıcaklıklar orta derecede hipotermik şartlardan kriyojenik sıcaklıklara kadar değişebilir.
