Siyanür
Siyanür, monovalent birleştirme grubu CN içeren herhangi bir kimyasal bileşiktir. Siyano grubu olarak bilinen bu grup, azot atomuna üçlü bağlanmış bir karbon atomundan oluşur. Sodyum siyanür, NaCN gibi inorganik siyanürlerde bu grup negatif yüklü poliatomik siyanür iyonu olarak bulunur; Hidrosiyanik asit tuzları olarak kabul edilen bu bileşikler oldukça toksiktir. Siyanür iyonu karbon monoksit ve moleküler azot ile izoelektroniktir. Çoğu siyanür çok zehirlidir. Organik siyanürlere genellikle nitril denir; Bunlarda CN grubu, kovalent bir bağ ile metil siyaniddeki metil gibi karbon içeren bir gruba bağlanmıştır. Hidrojen siyanür veya HCN olarak da bilinen sedasyonel asit, akrilik elyaf, sentetik kauçuk ve plastiğin üretiminde kullanılan akrilonitril hazırlamak için kullanılan oldukça uçucu bir sıvıdır. Siyanürler, fümigasyon, demir ve çeliğin çimento sertleşmesi, galvanik kaplama ve cevher konsantrasyonu gibi bir dizi kimyasal prosesde kullanılır. Doğada, siyanür üreten maddeler, vahşi kiraz çukuru gibi bazı tohumlarda bulunur.
