Biyolojide, parçacık canlı olmayan parçacık halindeki organik maddedir. Genellikle ölü organizmaların cesetlerini veya parçalarını ve dışkıyı içerir. Detritus, tipik olarak, malzemenin ayrışması için etki yapan mikroorganizma toplulukları tarafından kolonize edilir. Karasal ekosistemlerde yaprak çöpleri ve humus olarak adlandırılan toprağa karışan diğer organik maddeler olarak karşımıza çıkmaktadır. Suda yaşayan ekosistemlerin detritosu, suyun içine asılmış organik maddedir ve deniz karı olarak adlandırılan deniz tabanları üzerine yığılır.
