Sınırlayıcı yön, bir durumun yalnızca belirli bir süre sürdüğünü belirten bir gramer yapısıdır. Bazen duratif özellik olarak da adlandırılır. Rusça: "я постоял и покурил" = "Bir süre ayakta ve tütsüle" (bu örnekte sınırlayıcı unsuru işaretleyen по- (po-) öneki ile karşılaştırıldığında) "я стоял и курил" - "ayakta ve tütsüledim" .
