Onomatopoeia
Yunanca'dan "isim" ve ποιέω'ya "Ben yaparım" sıfat formu: "onomatopoeic" veya "onomatopoetic" olan bir onomatopoeia (bazen onomatopoeia olarak yazılır) (telaffuz (ABD) (yardım / info)) Fonetik olarak taklit ettiği, onu benzeyen veya sesin kaynağını öne süren kelimedir. Onomatopoeia (sayılamayan bir isim olarak) sözcüklerin mülkiyetine atıfta bulunmaktadır. Yaygın görülen onomatopoea vakalarında "oink", "miyav", "kükreme" veya "cırpık" gibi hayvan sesleri bulunur. Tüm dillerde onomatopoealar aynı değildir; bir ölçüde, bir parçası oldukları daha geniş dilsel sisteme uyarlar; Dolayısıyla bir saatin sesi İngilizcede tick tock, Mandarin'de dīdā veya Japonca'da katchin katchin olabilir.
