Elektronegatiflik, simge χ, bir atomun veya fonksiyonel bir grubun kendine doğru elektronlar çekme eğilimini tanımlayan kimyasal bir özelliğidir. Bir atomun elektronegatifliği hem atom numarası hem de değerlikli elektronların yüklü çekirdeğin bulunduğu mesafeden etkilenir. İlişkilendirilmiş elektronegatiflik sayısı ne kadar yüksek olursa, bir element veya bileşik de elektronları ona doğru çeker. İlk olarak 1932'de, değerlik bağ teorisinin geliştirilmesi olarak Linus Pauling tarafından önerildi, bir dizi diğer kimyasal özelliklerle korelasyon gösterdiği gösterildi.
