Mimaride, entasis estetik amaçlar için bir yüzeye dışbükey bir eğri uygulamasıdır. En iyi bilinen kullanımı, Klasik kolonların belirli sıralamalarında bulunur; bu kolonların çapları aşağıdan yukarıya doğru azaldıkça eğrisidir. Helenistik dönemde entazili bazı sütunlar alt kısımlarında silindiriktir. Bazı Roma sütunları "puro şekilli", en geniş noktası ayağın biraz üstünde. Sözcük εντείνω Yunanca kelimesinden türetilmekte, "sıkılaştırmak ya da gerginleştirmek" tir.

Sözlükteki entasisin tanımı, düz bir şaft tarafından üretilen konkavit yanılsamasını düzeltmek için bir sütun, iskele veya benzeri bir yapının şaftına verilen hafif dışbükey bir eğri. Entasis'in diğer tanımı da denir: entasya, istemsiz veya spazmodik bir kas kontraksiyonu.
