Varoluşçuluk
Varoluşçuluk, derin doktriner farklılıklara rağmen felsefi düşüncenin insan konusuyla - yalnızca düşünce konusundan değil, oyunculuk, duygu, yaşama kadar başladığı inancını paylaşan bazı 19. ve 20. yüzyıl sonrasındaki filozofların çalışmalarına uygulanan bir terimdir insanoğlu. Varoluşçulukta, bireyin başlangıç noktası, "varoluşçu tutum" olarak adlandırılan ya da görünüşte anlamsız ya da absürd bir dünya karşısında yönelim ve karışıklık duygusu ile karakterizedir. Pek çok varoluşçu, geleneksel sistematik ya da akademik felsefeleri, hem stil hem de içeriği somut insan tecrübesinden çok soyut ve uzak olarak kabul etmiştir. Varoluşçuluk terimini kullanmasa da, Søren Kierkegaard'ın ilk varoluşçu filozof olduğu düşünülmektedir. Toplum ya da din değil, her insanın yaşamı anlamlandırmaktan ve tutkuyla ve içtenlikle yaşamaktan yalnızca sorumlu olduğunu ileri sürdü. Varoluşçuluk, II. Dünya Savaşı'ndan sonraki yıllarda popülerleşti ve teoloji, drama, sanat, edebiyat ve psikoloji de dahil olmak üzere felsefenin yanı sıra birçok disiplini de kuvvetle etkiledi.
