Bu terim, Marksizm teorisinde ve "Ekim ayındaki devrim" döneminde çok popüler olan "Loot'ları yağdır!" Sloganında "kamulaştırıcıların kamulaştırılması" olarak görülüyor. Terim, SSCB'de dekulakizasyon ve kolektifleştirme gibi komünist devletlerin kamulaştırma kampanyalarını tanımlamak için de kullanılır.
