Jeolojide, bir fasies belirli özelliklere sahip bir kaya gövdesi. İdeal olarak, bir fasiyes belirli bir süreci veya ortamı yansıtan belirli sedimentasyon koşulları altında oluşan ayırıcı bir kaya birimi. Fasies terimi, İsviçre jeologu Amanz Gressly tarafından 1838'de tanıtıldı ve daha önceki Neptünizm kavramlarının yerini alan modern stratigrafinin temellerine yaptığı önemli katkılardan biriydi.
