Aile mahkemesi
Bir aile mahkemesi, aile hukukuyla ilgili kararlar vermek ve çocukların velayeti gibi kararlar almak üzere toplanan bir mahkemedir. Ortak mahkeme kanunlarında, "aile mahkemeleri", başta üstün mahkeme olmak üzere, kendi yargı yetkisine ait bir mahkemeden çıkarılan hakkaniyete dayalı meselelerle ilgili kanuni yararlardır. Aile mahkemeleri ilk olarak Amerika Birleşik Devletleri'nde, ancak fikrin kendisi daha yaşlı olmasına rağmen, 1910'da ev ilişkileri mahkemeleri ilan edildi. Aile hukuku davalarını ele almak için her bir devletin farklı bir sistemi olmasına rağmen aile mahkemeleri ailevi ve ev içi ilişkilere ilişkin tüm davaları duyar, her devlet ailelere aile hukuku davalarında mümkün olan en iyi sonuca ulaşmaya çalışır.
