"On dört Nokta", 8 Ocak 1918'de Birleşik Devletler Başkanı Woodrow Wilson tarafından I. Dünya Savaşı'nın ahlaki bir sebeple savaşıldığını ve Avrupa'da savaş sonrası barış çağrısında bulunduğunu bildirdi. Avrupalılar genellikle Wilson'un müdahalesini memnuniyetle karşıladı, ancak ana Müttefik meslektaşları Wilson idealizminin uygulanabilirliğinden kuşkuluydu. ABD, Orta Güçlerle Savaşta Müttefikler'e 6 Nisan 1917'de katıldı. Savaşa giriş, kısmen, Almanya'nın Fransa ve İngiltere ile ticaret yapan ticaret gemilerine karşı denizaltı savaşı başlatması nedeniyle gerçekleşti.
