Freebase
Freebase, çoğunlukla topluluk üyelerinden oluşan meta veriden oluşan geniş bir işbirliğine dayanan bilgi tabanıdır. Bu, bireysel 'wiki' katkıları da dahil olmak üzere pek çok kaynaktan toplanan yapısal verilerden oluşan çevrimiçi bir koleksiyondur. Freebase, insanların ortak bilgilere daha etkin erişebilmelerini sağlayan küresel bir kaynak yaratmayı amaçlıyor. Amerikan yazılım şirketi Metaweb tarafından geliştirildi ve Mart 2007'den bu yana kamuoyuna açıklandı. Metaweb, Google tarafından 16 Temmuz 2010'da açıklanan özel bir satışla satın alındı. Google'ın Bilgi Grafiği kısmen Freebase tarafından sağlanıyor. Freebase verileri, Creative Commons Attribution License kapsamında ticari ve ticari olmayan kullanım için serbestçe bulunur ve açık API, RDF bitiş noktası ve veritabanı dökümü programcılar için sağlanır.
İngilizce sözlükte freebase sözcüğünün tanımı
Freebase'in sözlükteki ilk tanımı, eter veya başka bir çözücü içinde ısıtılarak rafine edilen kokaindir. Freebase'in diğer tanımı bu şekilde rafine etmektir. Freebase de dumanı duman veya teneffüs etmektir.
