Kayalık resif
Bir saçaklı resif, çoğu mercan resifi bilim adamı tarafından tanınan üç ana mercan resifi türünden biridir. Diğer iki ana tipten ayırt edilir ya da tamamen sığ bir arka plan bölgesi vardır ya da hiç yoktur. Bu tür mercan kayalığı, Karayipler'de ve Kızıldeniz'de bulunan en yaygın resif türüdür. Darwin, saçaklı kayalıkların, uzun vadeli bir resif büyüme sürecinde bir kara kütlesi etrafında formüle edilecek ilk resif türü olduğuna inanıyordu.
