Geometri, şekil, boyut, figürlerin göreli konumu ve uzayın özellikleri ile ilgili soruların matematiğin bir dalıdır. Geometri alanında çalışan bir matematikçiye bir coğrafya denir. Geometri, bir takım erken kültürlerde, uzunluklar, alanlar ve hacimler ile ilgili pratik bir vücut olarak bağımsız bir şekilde ortaya çıktı; biçimsel matematik biliminin unsurları Batı'da Thales kadar erken ortaya çıkıyordu. M.Ö. 3. yüzyılda, geometri, birçok yüzyıl boyunca takip edilmesi gereken bir standart olan Öklid geometrisi-Öklid tarafından bir aksiyomatik form haline getirildi.
