Solungaç
Solungaç, sudan çözünmüş oksijeni özümseyen ve karbon dioksidi atan birçok suda yaşayan organizmada bulunan solunum organıdır. Göğüs yengeçleri gibi bazı türlerin solungaçları, nemli kalmaları koşuluyla karada solunumu sağlamak için uyarlanmıştır. Bir solungaçın mikroskobik yapısı dış ortama geniş bir yüzey alanı sunar. Birçok mikroskobik sucul hayvanlar ve daha büyük fakat aktif olmayan bazıları vücutlarının tamamı boyunca yeterli oksijeni emebilir ve bu yüzden solungaç olmadan yeterince solunabilir. Bununla birlikte, daha karmaşık veya daha aktif suda yaşayan organizmalar genellikle bir solungaç veya solungaçlar gerektirir.
