Hotan, Hetian veya Khotan, Güneybatı Çin'in Sinjiang kentinde Hotan Eyaleti'nin yeridir. Daha önce Çince'de Yutian olarak ve 19. yüzyıl Avrupalı kaşiflere Ilchi olarak biliniyordu. 114.000 kişilik bir nüfusa sahip olan Hotan, Sanju Geçidi ile Hindu-tagh'ın geçtiği Kunlun Dağlarının hemen kuzeyinde Tarim Havzasında uzanan bir vaha kentidir ve Ilchi geçer. Yarkand'ın güneydoğusunda bulunan ve neredeyse münhasıran Uygurlar tarafından doldurulan kasaba, küçük bir tarımsal merkezdir. Tarihi İpek Yolu'nun güney kolunda bulunan önemli bir istasyon olan Hotan, güneybatı kenarında hayatta kalabilmek için su sağlamak için sırasıyla iki güçlü nehre (Karakaş Nehri ve Yurungkash Nehri, Siyah ve Beyaz Yeşim nehirleri) dayanıyordu. Geniş Taklamakan Çölü. Yurungkash hala kasaba ve vaha için su ve sulama sağlar.
