Hidrojen florür
Hidrojen florür HF formüllü bir kimyasal bileşiktir. Bu renksiz gaz, çoğunlukla hidroflorik asit olarak sulu formdaki florin ana sanayi kaynağıdır ve bu nedenle farmasötik maddeler ve polimerler de dahil olmak üzere birçok önemli bileşiğin öncüsüdür. HF, petrokimya endüstrisinde yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır ve bir çok süper asidin bir parçasıdır. Hidrojen florür oda sıcaklığının hemen altında kaynar, diğer hidrojen halidleri ise çok daha düşük sıcaklıklarda yoğunlaşır. Diğer hidrojen halojenürlerin aksine, HF havadan daha açıktır ve gözenekli maddeler yoluyla nispeten çabuk yayılır. Hidrojen florür doku ile temas ettiğinde aşındırıcı ve nüfuz eden hidroflorik asit oluşturan oldukça tehlikeli bir gazdır. Gaz aynı zamanda korneanın hızla tahrip edilmesiyle körlüğe neden olabilir. Fransız kimyager Edmond Frémy, 1771 yılında Carl Wilhelm Scheele'nin büyük miktarlarda hidroflorik asit hazırlamış olmasına rağmen floru ayırmaya çalışırken susuz hidrojen florürün keşfedilmesiyle alakalıydı ve bu asit şimdiye kadar cam endüstrisinde biliniyordu.
