Hydrotropism
Hidrotropizm, büyümenin yönünün su konsantrasyonundaki bir uyarı veya gradyan tarafından belirlendiği bir bitkinin büyüme tepkisidir. Ortak bir örnek, nemli havada yetişen ve bağıl nem seviyesinin daha yüksek olduğu bir bitki köküdür. Ekosistemindeki bitkinin verimliliğini artırmaya yardımcı olduğu için bu biyolojik anlam taşır. Hidroterapi süreci, kök kapak algılama suyu ile başlar ve kökün uzanan kısmına bir sinyal gönderir. Hidrotropizm, yer altı köklerinde gözlemlemek zordur, zira kökler kolayca gözlemlenemez ve kök gravitropizması genellikle kök hidrotropizmadan daha etkilidir. Su toprakta kolaylıkla hareket eder ve toprak suyu içeriği sürekli değişir, böylece toprak nemindeki herhangi bir gradyen stabil değildir.
