Hipofizektomi, hipofizin cerrahi olarak çıkarılmasıdır. Çoğunlukla tümörlerin, özellikle de kranyofarenjiyoma tümörlerinin tedavisinde uygulanır. Tiroid hormonu, pituiter silinmeden etkilenen kolesterol metabolizmasının kontrolünde yararlıdır.
