Bir buz rafı, bir buzul ya da buz tabakasının bir kıyı şeridine ve okyanus yüzeyine aktığı kalınlaşan yüzen bir buz platformudur. Buz rafları sadece Antarktika, Grönland ve Kanada'da bulunur. Yüzen buz rafı ile onu besleyen topraklanmış buz arasındaki sınır, topraklama hattı olarak adlandırılır. Buz raflarının kalınlığı yaklaşık 100 ila 1000 metre arasında değişmektedir. Science'ın 14 Haziran 2013 sayısında yayınlanan NASA ve üniversite araştırmacıları tarafından yapılan bir araştırma, kıtanın buz kütlesi kütlelerinin çoğunun sorumlu olduğu Antarctic buz raflarının alt kısımlarını eriten okyanus sularının olduğunu tespit etti.
