Doğal olarak, ibadet sırasında tütsü yakılan zincirlerden asılmış metal bir kereviztir. Roma Katolik, Anglo Katolik, Doğu Ortodoks, Doğu Ortodoks, Ermeni Apostolik, bazı Lutheran, Eski Katolik ve çeşitli Gnostik Kiliselerde kullanılır. Aynı zamanda Eş-Masonlukta ve törensel büyü uygulamasında da kullanılır. Katolik, Lutheran ve Anglikan kiliselerinde, kabileyi taşıyan sunak sunucusuna "tüfekci" denir. Bir terbiyeli cihazın çalışması oldukça basittir. Yanan kömür, metal kereviz yakındır. Bazen pek çok farklı tütsü, kömür üzerine yerleştirilir.
