Intermetallic
Intermetalik veya intermetalik bileşik, farklı şekillerde kullanılan bir terimdir. Çoğunlukla metal içeren katı hal fazlarına atıfta bulunur. Genel olarak bilimsel yayınlarda ve "ortak kullanım" terimine sıkı sıkıya bağlı bir "araştırma tanımı" vardır. Koordinasyon kimyasında, iki veya daha fazla farklı metal içeren kompleksleri belirtmek için kullanıldığı tamamen farklı bir kullanım da vardır. Katı safhalar için geçerli olan intermetalik bileşikler terimi yıllarca kullanılmasına rağmen, 1955 yılında Hume-Rothery tarafından pişman hale getirildi. Birçok intermetalik bileşiğe çoğunlukla basitçe "alaşımlar" denir; buna rağmen biraz yanlış isim. Her ikisi birden fazla element içeren metalik fazlardır, ancak alaşımlarda çeşitli elementler kristal yapıda rasgele yer değiştirir ve bir dizi olası kompozisyon ile katı bir solüsyon oluşturur; Intermetalik bileşiklerde, farklı elementler, yapıda, farklı yerel ortamlar ve sıklıkla iyi tanımlanmış sabit bir stoikiometri ile farklı sahalara sipariş edilir.
