iSCSI
Bilgisayarda, iSCSI, veri depolama olanaklarını bağlamak için Internet Protokolü tabanlı bir depolama ağı standardı olan İnternet Küçük Bilgisayar Sistemi Arayüzünün kısaltmasıdır. IP ağları üzerinden SCSI komutları taşıyan iSCSI, intranetler üzerinden veri aktarımını kolaylaştırmak ve uzun mesafelerde depolamayı yönetmek için kullanılır. iSCSI, yerel alan ağları, geniş alan ağları veya İnternet üzerinden veri iletmek için kullanılabilir ve konumdan bağımsız veri depolama ve alımı sağlayabilir. Protokol, istemcilerin uzak sunuculardaki SCSI depolama aygıtlarına SCSI komutları göndermesine izin verir. Bir depolama alanı ağı protokolü, kuruluşların yerel olarak bağlı disklerin yanılsamasına sahipleri barındıracak şekilde depolama alanını veri merkezi depolama dizilerine konsolide etmesine olanak tanır. Özel amaçlı kablolama gerektiren geleneksel Fiber Kanalın aksine iSCSI, mevcut ağ altyapısını kullanarak uzun mesafelerde kullanılabilir. iSCSI, 1998'de IBM ve Cisco tarafından öncülük edilerek Mart 2000'de taslak standart olarak sunuldu.
