Bir surcoat veya surkot, Orta Çağ'da hem erkekler hem de kadınlar tarafından sıklıkla kullanılan bir dış giysi idi. Ya diğer giysilerin üzerine veya bir kişinin dış kıyafetine giyilen bir cilde atıfta bulunabilir. Adı "cotta üzerinde" anlamına gelen Fransızca'dan türetilir, kolları olmadan ayağa uzanan uzun, geniş bir kat. Şövalyeleri, 12. yüzyıldan bu yana, sıklıkla giyenlerin kollarıyla süslenmiş zırhlarının üzerine uzun ve akıcı suratlar giyerlerdi. Genellikle mid-buzağı kadar uzanır, ön ve arka kısımda yarıklar vardı ve kollu veya kolsuzdu.
