Laudabiliter 1155 yılında İngiliz İngiliz Angevin Henry II'ye İrlanda üzerinde kontrolü ele geçirme ve İrlanda'daki Katolik Kilisesi üzerindeki Gregoryen Reformları yürürlüğe koyma hakkı veren bir İngiliz olarak Adrian IV tarafından verildi. Normandiya'nın İrlanda işgalinin liderleri daha sonra Laudabiliter'in işgali yetkilendirdiğini iddia edeceklerdi. Pembrokeshire'den bir Cambro-Norman şövalyesi olan Richard de Clare, Leinster'in Kral'ı olan Diarmuid MacMorrough tarafından İrlanda'nın Yüksek Kralı Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair'le olan mücadelesinde müttefik olarak kaldı.
