Mao Zedong
Mao Tse-tung'un dinlediği ve genelde Başkan Mao olarak atıfta bulunan Mao Zedong, bir Çin Komünist devrimci ve Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti'nin kuruluş babasıydı ve kurulduğu tarihten itibaren Çin Komünist Partisi'nin başkanlığına getirildi Marksist-Leninist kuramları, askeri stratejileri ve politik politikaları topluca Maoizm ya da Mao Zedong Düşüncesi olarak bilinir. Hunan Shaoshan'da zengin bir çiftçinin oğlu olarak doğan Mao, özellikle 1911 Xinhai Devrimi ve 19 Mayıs Dördüncü Hareketi'nden etkilenen erken Çin milliyetçiliği ve antiemperyalist görüşlerini benimsedi. Mao Marksizm-Leninizm'e dönüştürdü. Pekin Üniversitesi'nde çalışırken Çin Komünist Partisi'nin kurucu üyesi oldu ve 1927'de Sonbahar Hasat İsyanını yönetti. Kuomintang ve CPC arasındaki Çin İç Savaşı sırasında Mao, Kızıl Ordu'nun kurulmasına yardım etti, Jiangxi Sovyet radikalinin nihayetinde TBMM'nin başkanlığına geçti.

Köylü bir çiftçinin oğlu olan Çin Komünist Partisi'nin kurulmasına yardım etti ve Güney Çin'de bir sovyet cumhuriyeti kurdu. Partinin lideri olarak ortaya çıkan Uzun Mart adı verilen Kuzey Çin'e Komünist güçlerin geri çekilmesine öncülük etti. II. Dünya Savaşı'nda Japonlara karşı olarak, ardından gelen iç savaşta yenen Kuomintang rejimi ile birleşti. 1959 yılına kadar başkanlığını yaptığı Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti'ni kurdu. Ölümüne kadar parti başkanlığı yaparak 1966'da Kültür Devrimi'ni başlattı.
