Metil grubu
Bir metil grubu, üç hidrojen atomuna - CH3 bağlı bir karbon atomu içeren metandan türetilen bir alkoldür. Grup çoğunlukla bana kısaltılmıştır. Bu hidrokarbon grupları bir çok organik bileşikte bulunur. Çoğu molekülde çok kararlı bir gruptur. Metil grubu genelde daha büyük bir molekülün parçası iken, tek başına kendi başına, anyon, katyon veya radikal şeklinde olabilir. Anyonun sekiz değerlik elektronu vardır, radikal yedi ve katyon altı. Her üç form da oldukça reaktiftir ve nadiren görülür.
