Adam Mickiewicz
Adam Bernard Mickiewicz (dinle); 24 Aralık 1798 - 26 Kasım 1855) Polonya şairi, drama yazarı, makale yazarı, gazeteci, çevirmen, Slav edebiyatı profesörü ve siyasi eylemci idi. Polonya, Litvanya ve Beyaz Rusya'da ulusal şair olarak görülüyor. Polonya Romantizminde ana figür olan Paul, Polonya'nın "Three Bards" ("Trzej Wieszcze") arasında sayılıyor ve Polonya'nın en büyük şairi olarak kabul ediliyor. Ayrıca en büyük Slav ve Avrupalı şairlerden biri olarak kabul ediliyor ve "Slavcu" olarak adlandırılıyor. Önde gelen romantik bir oyun yazarı olan Paul, Polonya ve Avrupa'da Byron ve Goethe ile karşılaştırıldı. Başta şiirsel drama Dziady (Forefathers 'Eve) ve ulusal epik şiiri Pan Tadeusz tarafından biliniyor. Diğer etkili eseri Konrad Wallenrod ve Grażyna'yı içermektedir. Bütün bunlar, Polonya-Litvanya Commonwealth'i varoluştan ayıran üç imparatorluk güçlerine karşı ayaklanmalara ilham kaynağı oldu.
