Monografi
Monograf, tek bir konuda ya da bir konunun bir yönünde, genellikle tek bir yazar tarafından yazılmış uzman bir eserdir. "Monografi" terimi, "tek bir konuda yazma" anlamına gelen Yunanca'dan türetilmiştir. Bir alandaki bilgi durumunu inceleyen bir ders kitabından farklı olarak, bir monografinin ana amacı, birincil araştırma ve orijinal burs sunmaktır. Bu araştırma, bir makale ile bir makaleyi birbirinden ayırarak uzun süredir sunulmaktadır. Bu nedenlerden dolayı, bir monograf yayınlanması, birçok akademik disiplinde kariyer ilerlemesi için hayati önem taşımaktadır. Diğer araştırmacılar için tasarlanmış ve öncelikli olarak kütüphaneler tarafından satın alınmış olan monograflar genellikle kısa süreli olarak basılı olarak yayınlanır. Kütüphaneciler, bir monografi bir ciltte ya da sonlu sayıda ciltte tamamlanmış, yani herhangi bir yazı monografi olarak nitelendirilebilen, gizli olmayan bir yayın olarak değerlendirir.
