Morfometri
Morfometri veya morfometri, boyutun ve şeklin bulunduğu bir kavram olan kantitatif form analizini ifade eder. Morfometrik analizler yaygın olarak organizmalar üzerinde gerçekleştirilir ve şekillerin kantitatif-genetik parametrelerini tahmin etmek için fosil kayıtlarını, mutasyonların şekil üzerindeki gelişimini, formdaki gelişimsel değişimleri, ekolojik faktörler ile şekil arasındaki kovaryansları analiz etmede yararlıdır. Morfometri, evrimsel bir önemin niteliğini ölçmek için kullanılabilir ve şekildeki değişiklikleri tespit ederek ontogenezi, fonksiyonu veya evrimsel ilişkileri hakkında bir şeyler telaffuz eder. Morfometrinin temel amacı, şekli etkileyen faktörler hakkında istatistiksel olarak hipotezleri test etmektir. "Morfometri", terimin geniş anlamıyla, beyin gibi bazı organ bölümlerini tam olarak bulmak için de kullanılır ve başka şeylerin şekillerini tanımlarken kullanılır.
