Morphophonology
Morfofonoloji, morfolojik ve fonolojik veya fonetik süreçler arasındaki etkileşimi inceleyen bir dilbiliminin bir dalıdır. Başlıca odak noktası, sözcükleri oluşturmak için bir araya geldiğinde morfemlerde gerçekleşen ses değişiklikleri. Morfofonolojik analiz, belirli bir dilin morfemlerinde meydana gelen normal ses değişikliklerini başarılı bir şekilde tahmin eden bir dizi resmi kural koyma girişimini içerir. Böyle bir dizi kural teorik temelde bir temayı, aslında işitilen bir yüzey formuna dönüştürür. Morphemlerin altta yatan temsillerinin birleştiği birimler bazen morfofonem olarak adlandırılır. Morfofonolojik kurallar tarafından üretilen yüzey formu fonemlerden oluşabilir veya morfofonolojik analiz, fonem aşamasını atlayabilir ve telefonların kendisini üretebilir.
