Bir NEET veya neet "Eğitimde Değil, İstihdam veya Eğitimde Olmayan" genç bir kişidir. Kısaltma NEET ilk olarak Birleşik Krallık'ta kullanılmış ancak kullanımı Japonya ve Güney Kore dahil olmak üzere diğer ülkelere yayılmıştır. Birleşik Krallık'ta, sınıflandırma 16 ile 24 yaşları arasındaki insanları kapsar; 16-18 yaşlarındaki NEET'lerin alt grubu sıklıkla odaklanmaktadır. Japonya'da sınıflandırma, 15 ila 34 yaşları arasında işsiz olan, ev işleriyle uğraşmayan, okula veya işle ilgili eğitim almayan ve iş arayan olmayan kişileri kapsar. NEET, Uluslararası Çalışma Örgütü tarafından 2013 Gençlik için Küresel İstihdam Eğilimlerine ilişkin raporda kullanılan yeni NLEET oranından ayrılmalıdır. NLEET oranı, "ne işgücünde ne de eğitim, istihdam ve eğitim" için kullanılmaktadır. NEET'e benzer ancak işgücüne hala dahil olduklarından işsizleri dışarıda bırakmaktadır.
