Nomogramı
Bir nomogram, aynı zamanda nomogram, hizalama grafiği veya abaque olarak adlandırılan bir grafik hesaplama cihazı, bir fonksiyonun yaklaşık grafik hesaplamasına izin vermek için tasarlanmış iki boyutlu bir diyagramdır. Adlandırma alanı 1884 yılında Fransız mühendis Philbert Maurice d'Ocagne tarafından keşfedildi ve karmaşık formüllerin pratik bir hassasiyetle hızlı grafiksel hesaplamaları için mühendislere yıllarca kullandı. Nomogramlar, standart Kartezyen koordinatları yerine d'Ocagne tarafından icat edilen paralel bir koordinat sistemi kullanır. Bir nomogram, bir denklemdeki her değişken için bir tane olmak üzere n ölçekten oluşur. N-1 değişkenlerinin değerlerini bilmekte bilinmeyen değişkenin değeri bulunabilir veya bazı değişkenlerin değerlerini sabitleyerek düzeltilmemiş değişkenler arasındaki ilişki incelenebilir. Sonuç, ölçeklerdeki bilinen değerlere bir düz çizgi yerleştirilmesi ve bilinmeyen değeri o değişkenin ölçeğini aştığı yerden okumak suretiyle elde edilir. Düzeltme tarafından oluşturulan sanal ya da çizilmiş çizgiye bir dizin çizgisi ya da izopleth denir.
