Sözlükte parantez içi tanımlama, gramer bağlantılı olmadığı ve köşeli parantezler, tire işaretleri vb. Ile işaretlenmiş bir pasaja eklenen, çoğunlukla açıklayıcı ya da nitelendiren bir cümle ile ilgili ya da bu cümleye özgü özelliktedir. Parantez içi diğer tanımlar böyle bir ifade olarak eklenir.
