Apsis
Bir apsis (Yunanca ἁψίς, gen ἁψίδος.), Çoğul yerötelerin (/ æpsɨdiːz /; Yunanca: ἁψίδες), daha büyük bir vücut ile ilgili bir eliptik yörüngedeki bir vücudun en büyük ya da en azından bir mesafe noktasıdır. Sun dönen bir cisim için en büyük ve en az bir mesafe noktası ise tekabül eden noktalar, zirve ve yerberi (/ pɛrɨdʒiː /) olan Ay dahil Earth herhangi bir uydu için, aphelion ve perihelion (/ æphiːliən / / ˌpɛrɨhiːliən /) sırasıyla denir. Belirli bir merkezi gövdenin bağımsız genel eki, apsis veya orta dolayısıyla apoapsis de olabilir, apocentre veya apapsis (ἀπ dan (ό) (p (o)), "dan" anlamına gelir) ve περί gelen periapsis veya pericentre ( (peri), "etrafında" anlamına gelir. Apollo programı sırasında, terimler pericynthion ve Ay bahsederken apocynthion (Cynthia, Yunan Ay tanrıçası Artemis için alternatif adı başvuran) kullanıldı. Periapsis ile apoapsis arasında düz bir çizgi apsides çizgisidir. Bu, elipsin en büyük çapı olan elipsin ana eksendir.
