POSITION EFFECT SÖZCÜĞÜ İNGILIZCE DİLİNDE NE ANLAMA GELİR?

Konum efekti, bir kromozomdaki konumu genellikle translokasyon ile değiştirildiğinde genin ekspresyonu üzerindeki etkidir. Bu, göz rengine göre Drosophila'da iyi tanımlanmıştır ve pozisyon etkisi çeşitliliği olarak bilinir. Fenotip, kırmızı göz renklenmesine neden olan bir genin kararsız ekspresyonuyla karakterizedir. Mutant sineklerde gözlerin tipik olarak beyaz ve kırmızı kesimlerden oluştuğu görülüyor. Bu fenotipler çoğunlukla renk geninin bir heterokromatin bölgesine yakın olması gibi bir kromozomal translokasyona bağlıdır. Heterokromatin stokastik olarak yayılabilir ve beyaz göz sektörlerine yol açan renk genini kapatabilir. Konum efekti, bir genomun farklı bölgelerine yerleştirilen aynı transgenlerin sergilediği ekspresyon varyantını tanımlamak için de kullanılır. Bu durumda ifade farklılığı çoğunlukla komşu genleri düzenleyen arttırıcılardan kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu lokal arttırıcılar transgenin ekspresyon modelini de etkileyebilir. Her transjenik organizmanın farklı bir konumda transgene sahip olması nedeniyle, her transjenik organizmanın eşsiz bir ifade kalıbı oluşturma potansiyeli vardır.
