Proband, proposito veya proposita, tıbbi genetik ve diğer tıbbi alanlarda, üzerinde çalışılan veya üzerinde rapor edilen belirli bir konuyu belirtmek için sıklıkla kullanılan bir terimdir. Sığınaklarda, proband bir okla ve kutu veya daire de buna göre gölgelendi. Olasılığı belirtmek önemlidir, böylece diğer bireylerle olan ilişki görülebilir ve kalıplar oluşturulabilir. Çoğu vakada, olasılık, genetik bir bozukluk için tıbbi müdahale isteyen etkilenen ilk aile üyesidir.
