Stel (biyoloji)
Vasküler bir bitkide, stel, prokambiyumdan türetilen dokuları içeren kök veya kökün merkez kısmıdır. Bunlar, vasküler doku, bazı durumlarda zemin dokusu ve mevcutsa, stelin en dış sınırını tanımlayan bir perisikür içerir. Stelin dışında korteksin en içteki hücre tabakası olan endodermis bulunur. Stel kavramı, ateş ve kök arasındaki ilişkiyi anlamak ve vasküler bitki morfolojisinin evrimini tartışmak için bir model olarak Fransız botanikçiler P.E.L. van Tieghem ve H. Doultion tarafından 19. yüzyılın sonlarında geliştirildi.
