Pseudepigrapha yanlışlıkla atfedilen eserler, iddia edilen yazar ayrı bir yazar tarafından temsil edilen metinler ya da "gerçek yazarın eseri bir geçmişe dönüştürdüğü" bir eserdir. "Pseudepigrapha" kelimesi, "pseudefigrafon" un çoğul halidir. Pseudtpigrafi, eserlerin yazarlarının isimlerine, hatta metinlerinde böyle iddia yapmayan otantik eserlere yapılan yanlış adlandırmaları kapsar. Bu nedenle, yaygın olarak kabul edilen ancak yazarlık yanlış bir atıf tamamen orijinal bir metin pseuddigrafi yapabilirsiniz. Bir metnin gerçek yazarını değerlendirmek, edebi eleştiri disiplini içerisinde pseudpedigrafik atıf ile ilgili sorular bulur. Eski Ahit'te İncil'den yapılan araştırmalarda Pseudepigrapha terimi, genellikle M.Ö. 300'de MS 300 olarak yazılan tümüyle sözde pseudekigrafik olmayan bir Yahudi dini eser koleksiyonuna atıfta bulunmaktadır. Protestanlar tarafından Protestanlar tarafından Deuterocanonical veya Apocrypha, Septuagint ve Vulgate'de görünen fakat İbranice İncil'de veya Protestan İncil'de görünmeyen kitaplardan ayrılırlar.
